Dwain is a graduate of McMaster University (1989) and Osgoode Hall Law School (1992). For over 30 years, he practiced civil litigation with a strong focus on insurance defence. He has represented clients at every level of court and tribunal in Ontario, including:
- The Ontario Court of Justice
- The Superior Court of Justice
- The Divisional Court
- The Court of Appeal for Ontario
- The Supreme Court of Canada
- The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO)
- The Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT)
Dwain has acted as lead counsel in numerous trials, arbitrations, and appeals, and has over 40 reported decisions to his name.
In addition to his litigation background, he holds a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Windsor. Since 2017, he has been offering mediation services across Ontario, bringing both legal insight and practical experience to every case I handle.
Dwain is an active member of the Hamilton Law Association, the Hamilton Medical-Legal Society, the Hamilton Lawyer’s Club, and Canadian Defence Lawyers. He is also proud to have served as Chair of the Board of Directors for both Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services and the Hamilton Kiwanis Boys’ and Girls’ Club.
Outside of work, Dwain continues to enjoy recreational hockey in the winter—and his golf game remains a 40+ year work in progress.
